Real Madrid, Barcelona, Real Sociedad and Athletic Club is set to play the Spanish Supercopa in Spain. The Spanish Super Cup is a super cup tournament in Spanish football. Founded in 1982 as a two-team competition, the current version has been contested since 2019–20 by four teams: the winners and runners-up of La Liga and the winners and runners-up of the Copa del Rey. Barcelona have won the Supercopa thirteen times, and Real Madrid eleven.
The 2019/20 season ended with Real Madrid winning the Spanish league with Barcelona been the runner-ups and the Copa del Rey is still yet to be played between Real Sociedad and Athletic Club. It was postponed due to covid reasons.
The Supercopa will be played in a single leg at neutral venues. Barcelona will be playing Real Sociedad on Wedensday, 13 January whiles Real Madrid will play Athletic Club on Thursday, 14 January.
Real Madrid, the defending champions from the 2019/20 Spanish Supercup are still hoping to retain their title whiles Barcelona are also fight to gain a silverware after a disappointing 2019/20 season for them without a silverware.
Whilst on the other hand Athletic Club are also hoping to get their hands on the trophy after a 5-year drought since they won it and Real Sociedad last trophy was in 1982.
